About the Maker

I’m Gil — better known online as Soap Daddy — the maker, soap‑slinger, and one‑man operation behind Mountainville General Store. I work out of a small studio tucked into the hills of Tewksbury/Lebanon, where every batch is poured, swirled, cut, and wrapped by hand. The studio carries the old Mountainville spirit: simple goods, honest craft, and a warm welcome for anyone who stops by.

I come from a background in engineering and project work, so precision and problem‑solving are second nature. But making things with my hands has always been where I feel most at home. Soapmaking became the perfect blend of creativity and structure — a quiet rhythm of oils, botanicals, color, and scent coming together in small batches. What started as a hobby grew into a studio, a shop, and a community I’m grateful for every day.

Over time, folks started following along with the process — the pours, the cuts, the markets, the behind‑the‑scenes moments — and Soap Daddy took on a life of his own. Today, you’ll find me popping a muscle flex, sharing studio updates, new batches, following me on my fitness journey, farmers market tours, and the occasional Westie cameo across Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, where a growing community of customers, makers, and soap lovers follow along.

Mountainville General Store is where all of that comes together. I make small‑batch soaps, seasonal collections, custom orders for weddings and events, and curated goods inspired by rustic living and local history. When I’m not at a market, I’m usually in the studio — often with two Westies supervising and a fresh batch curing on the rack.

My goal is simple: create things that feel good to use, smell wonderful, and bring a little bit of home into everyday routines. Whether you’re picking up a favorite scent, choosing a gift, or stopping by the studio to see what’s new, I’m grateful you’re here and happy to share a piece of Mountainville with you.
